Jaina: “Sorry to bug you, but I have another question.”

Lilith: “Mmhmm?”

Jaina: “I know there are bills to pay, plasma fruits to buy, plus a ton of other expenses I probably don’t even know about. I want to help pay my share, but I have no idea how I’m supposed to get a good job since I can’t go outside during the day.”

Lilith: “Eh? A job? We get all of our money from Celeste. Anything money can’t buy, we also get from Celeste. Why don’t you stop worrying so much and just enjoy your new life?”

Jaina: “It’s a bit hard to enjoy a life I was forced into by the very woman you’re saying will support me day-to-day.”

Lilith: “Fair enough.”

Jaina: “I’m definitely a vampire, so how the heck did I age?”

Lilith: “Those plasma drinks and fruits will only get you so far. Sure, they keep you alive. If you don’t start feeding on humans soon, you’re going to age and wither away. You need to get over your fears, get outside, and drink from your first sweet, sweet living blood bag.”

Jaina: “So you definitely prefer drinking from humans, huh?”

Lilith: “It’s what makes getting up in the night and continuing this sorry existence all worth it!”

Lilith: “A little bat told me it’s your birthday today so I baked you a cake!”

Caleb: “With my help, of course.”

Jaina: “Oh! You didn’t have to do that!”

Lilith: “It was no trouble. Besides, I bet it isn’t even that good. We haven’t baked human food in over 2,000 years.”

Amy: “When I came over to the Vatore house, Caleb and Lilith were the perfect hosts. I enjoyed getting to know them and I would come over often. Often times, Lilith and I would play chess while Caleb played music on the organ. They didn’t own a TV back then, you see. They didn’t buy that until they heard that a teenager would be living at the house.”

Jaina: “They bought the TV just for me? How thoughtful!”

Amy: “Yes, but shut up until I’m done my story.”

Lilith: “…and this one will be your room. I’m sorry the furniture is so dated.”

Jaina: “Oh, no problem. This is great! Anything is better than that musty dungeon.”

Lilith: “So you’re still unchanged, huh?”

Jaina: “Unchanged? I’m sorry, I don’t get it.”

Lilith: “Oh, you’re in for a wild ride, fledgling!”

Jaina: “Oh yeah, your brother mentioned fledglings when I got here. I wasn’t sure what he was talking about.”

Lilith: “You’ll understand soon enough.”
