Caleb: “We’ll start with a simple trick first. Close your eye and imagine that you are being engulfed in a swirling black smoke.”

Jaina: “I can feel myself lifting off of the floor…”

Caleb: “That’s very good! Are you sure you haven’t done this before?”

Jaina: “I want you to teach me everything about the dark arts. I think I just found my new purpose.”

Caleb: “My sister told me that you’ve been pestering her with questions all day.”

Jaina: “Yeah, I am still pretty new to the whole vampire thing.”

Caleb: “Lilith suggested that we spend a few hours providing you some training. With the right teacher and enough discipline, you can do almost anything you put your mind to.”

Jaina: “That’s okay.”

Caleb: “Look, I know you spoke to Amy and she probably told you the story about how I turned her. All I’m asking is that you spend a little bit of time actually getting to know me instead of just listening to someone else’s side of the story. It will be to your benefit.”

Jaina: “Alright, I guess I do owe you at least that much since you’ve been so kind fo me so far.”

Lilith: “A little bat told me it’s your birthday today so I baked you a cake!”

Caleb: “With my help, of course.”

Jaina: “Oh! You didn’t have to do that!”

Lilith: “It was no trouble. Besides, I bet it isn’t even that good. We haven’t baked human food in over 2,000 years.”

Amy: “The more that I came over to visit the Vatores, the further in love I fell with Caleb. I started spending the night here because I could never convince him to come over to my place. However, I learned later that the only reason why I thought Caleb was so perfect was because he was using vampire mind tricks to make me feel that way. Caleb and his sister were slowly killing me with their nightly feedings and I didn’t even know it.”

Amy: “When I came over to the Vatore house, Caleb and Lilith were the perfect hosts. I enjoyed getting to know them and I would come over often. Often times, Lilith and I would play chess while Caleb played music on the organ. They didn’t own a TV back then, you see. They didn’t buy that until they heard that a teenager would be living at the house.”

Jaina: “They bought the TV just for me? How thoughtful!”

Amy: “Yes, but shut up until I’m done my story.”

Amy: “Back when I was a human, I didn’t want to move into a big city like San Myshuno. I somehow managed to come across the perfect house that fit my small budget in this neighbourhood. I didn’t question why the house was so cheap because I was so excited about being able to finally afford my very own home.

The day I moved in, Caleb came over and introduced himself. He invited me over to meet his sister and have a few drinks. I was feeling shy, but I really wanted to make some new friends and get to know the people in the neighbourhood.”

Caleb: “Oh, hey! You must be our new roommate!”

Jaina: “Um, yeah. Hi.”

Caleb: “I’m sorry that you have to room with my sister and I. We’ve been here for a few years and we should be considered master vampires by now, but we’re still considered fledglings according to that miserable old bat.”

Jaina: “You mean Celeste?”

Caleb: “Yes, of course, her. Anyways, please come in and see your new home. My sister is practically dying to meet you.”
