Poppy: “Hi! Merlot said you wanted to see me?”

Lacey: “Hi, love! I want to introduce you to a friend of mine. This is Eloise Spark. She has several children around your age who you’ll be meeting when you start school in a few days.”

Poppy: “Hello, I’m Poppy Echo.”

Eloise: “Hello, Poppy Echo! It’s so nice to meet you!”

Poppy: “You can just call me Poppy. My last name is Aviary right now, but Mrs. Pinot Noir says I’m going to become a Pinot Noir one day too!”

Eloise: “Wow! That sounds pretty cool!”

Lacey: “The little girl’s name is Poppy Echo Aviary.”

Eloise: “Oh, yeah! I heard about her on the news!”

Lacey: “Yes, that’s our Poppy! What the news didn’t report was that she was found napping on a bench in the nearby park a few weeks ago. The news broadcast was done in hopes that a relative might come forward to claim her, but no one ever even called. The authorities asked Poppy numerous times where she came from, but the poor dear is just as confused. She said that her last family was moving to Windenburg, but it seems as though they just dumped her at the park instead.”

Eloise: “What do you mean by ‘last family’?”

Lacey: “Apparently she’s been in and out of several homes. She told me she has a brother, Alexander, but they were separated several years ago. She’s also not sure what has happened to her parents. They were also suddenly separated when she was very young.”

Eloise: “Oh no! How heart breaking!”

Lace: “We’ve kind of…adopted someone.”

Eloise: “Wait, what?”

Lace: “A close friend of ours, a local police officer, informed us that a little girl was in need of a new home. We had always wished we had more children, but somehow the timing never seemed right. Merlot and I aren’t getting any younger, but we thought maybe we should share our home with an older child in need of a family.”

Merlot: “Just thinking about what that little girl went through makes my blood boil! How could someone just abandon a child like that?”

Lace: “Love, why don’t you go get her and then brew us some Calming Chamomile? I have a feeling we all might end up frazzled after I finish telling Elo what happened.”

Meet the Aviary family! Poppy Echo, Alexander, Georgia, and Smokey!

This family started off as an idea to make one sim based on an African Grey parrot, then she ended up with a brother based on a cockatoo, and then I needed to make them some parents who also fit the theme! Making the family took me several hours, but it was a lot of fun! I should make animal-based sims more often, especially bird sims. =)

It actually took me a while to name Poppy. I gave up on grey-based names and started looking at red ones (because Congo African Greys have red tail feathers), only to give up on that too. However, as soon as I clicked the in-game name generator, the perfect one popped up! I added “Echo” as a middle name after seeing it in a name suggestion forum for pets. =D

Although he was created with a cockatoo in mind, Alexander is named after a famous African Grey. Georgia is named after Marlene Mc’Cohen’s late African Grey, George. And finally, Smokey is just a cool name suggestion I found, but I do know of an adorable female parrotlet with the same name. ❤

I think I have an idea on how I can fit Alex and Poppy into the Elolet genetics challenge. However, I think I might play with them in the background on a different save for a while so that Georgia and Smokey can raise Alex and Poppy to adulthood starting with them as tots. If there are any really cute screenshots, I’ll share them here! ❤
